Research activity
Since the beginning of my PhD thesis I worked in the H ->ZZ->4l analysis. With the increase of cross-section at 13 TeV, discovering the sub-dominant production modes of the Higgs boson is one of the major focus for this analysis in Run II. For this, the events are classified in to mutually exclusive categories by exploiting the kinematic information of the selected objects. Also the new discriminators are designed to build a category-specific likelihood functions for the measurements. Signal and background models in the statistical tools used in the H->ZZ->4l analysis are implemented and the following properties of Higgs boson are measured.
1. Parameterising the four-lepton mass shape.
2. Measurement of signal strength in all the final states and categories.
3. Measurement of p-value, mass and fiducial cross-section.
Also I worked on the study of detector longevity within the Drift Tubes Detector Performance Group. At the High Luminosity LHC, the DT chambers will operate at much higher luminosities and larger absorbed doses. It is therefore essential to assess the radiation hardness of the DT system components and to understand the extent and nature of potential aging damage. A series of studies is being made at the (Gamma Irradiation Facility)GIF++ at CERN to develop a strategy for mitigating the effects of chamber aging.
Since this summer I am collaborating to the longevity tests ongoing at the Gamma Irradiation Facility (GIF++) at CERN. They consist of irradiating one full size DT chamber and some reduced size chambers under conditions closer to HL-LHC dose rate.
